About the event
This is a cherished community tradition that honors Dr. King’s legacy through education, music, youth engagement, and community recognition.
The 2026 celebration marks a special milestone — the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence — and explores how America’s founding ideals of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” intersect with Dr. King’s call to confront “The Three Evils of Society” — racism, poverty, and war.
This year’s theme,
“Fighting the Three Evils of Society: Uniting the Nation to Become a More Perfect Union,” aligns with The King Center’s national message, “Mission Possible II: Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way.” It reminds us that freedom and equality remain an ongoing journey—one that demands civic responsibility, compassion, and nonviolent action.
